About me

My name is Steven Greene. I am a qualified Clinical Dental Technician (Denturist) and a registered Dental Technician. I started as an apprentice dental technician in 1994 at a busy dental laboratory in Birmingham. I became a registered dental technician in 1999.

In 2005 we opened Lowesmoor Denture Centre in Worcester. At this time i started additional training to become a Denturist now called a CDT with a distance learning course run from George Brown College, Toronto, Canada. in 2008 i completed the additional training required to register in the UK through the Royal College of Surgeons and was part of the first cohort to register in the UK with the General Dental Council GDC

With time i needed a bigger premises so opened Poppy Fields Denture Clinic in Droitwich. In 2012 we moved to Bromsgrove.
I have now been making dentures for over 30 years. During this time i have gained a lot of experience and tried many different ways of making dentures. what i have learned is that there is no shortcut to making a good denture, you must spend the right amount of time for each step of the fabrication and use quality materials.

What is a Clinical Dental Technician?

A Clinical Dental Technician is a specially trained dental technician who has undergone additional training in the clinical aspects of prosthetic dentistry.

This training includes:-
• Impression taking
• Bite registration techniques (ways to record the way the top and bottom jaw meet)
• Latest Materials
• Advanced denture fabrication techniques (Bps system)
• Techniques for flat gums
• Infection control systems and universal precautions
• Clinical examinations
• Medical record keeping

The clinical part of the denture fabrication is usually carried out by a dentist. In 2008 the GDC (general dental council) made it possible
for dental technicians with the correct additional training to register and officially become Clinical Dental Technician’s. You can check with the GDC on their website to see whether a clinician is qualified to carry out the work they offer, or what to do if you are unhappy with the way you have been treated and cannot get a resolve.
